Vaplium Grenades
Vaplium grenade are area-effect weapons meant to be deployed by individual troops that use large vaplium canisters as explosive charges. The vaplium is surrounded by a smaller warhead that is forced outwards by the pressure of detonation, expelling metal fragmentation or smoke. These grenades are expensive and infeasible to deploy in large numbers, as they require both an Elethian enchantment and large amounts of pure vaplium to function correctly. This limits their use primarily to elite military units or wealthy individuals.
The fuse mechanism consists of a top-mounted latch held in by a screw mechanism. The latch must be unscrewed to prime the grenade, but the fuse only begins when the latch is fully removed from the grenade body. Once removed, external Eleth flows into a minuscule Elethian enchantment, which takes between three and five seconds to fill, dependent on small fluctuations in local Eleth. Once filled, the enchantment violently crushes the Elethian canister, acting as counter-pressure to force complete detonation within the canister.
