Timon Mathias Aumeier
Timon Mathias Auemeier was one of the most renowned heroes of the Fall of Meridia. Born to a family of little renown in Telzia, he is known to have excelled in schooling, though his fiery temperament often bested him. It is rumored that he initially joined a special training program intended to indoctrinate promising students into the Telzian Civil Defense Force, though little is known of his life before the Fall of Meridia is known beyond this. It is known that as of the start of the war, he was a Colonel in the Telzian Special Service stationed in Meridia as a diplomatic attache.
Upon the start of the war, Timon at first aided in the destruction of Telzian diplomatic documents in Hiatros before the city was besieged. Throughout the short siege, Timon and his small contingent of Special Service were instrumental in retrieving and relieving various encircled Meridian officers and regiments, including a daring mission to deliver General Damarian Sonte and a number of Meridian Air Force personnel to the skyship docks before they were overrun. While difficult to estimate, historians believe that Timon's quick actions likely saved nearly the entire Meridian command structure and most of the Meridian Air Force.
However, due to a standing policy that the Telzian Special Service did not formally operate outside of the borders of Telzia, the Telzian government quickly disowned Timon and his men upon learning of their actions. This did not particularly dissuade Timon, and he formed a quick friendship with Vitilianus Attiliades upon the arrival of Unaian reinforcements. Of his initial thirty five men, twenty-nine decided to remain rather than return to Telzia, and formed a small unit known as Timon's Thirty Bastards, which upon a highly successful raid onto a Meridian storage compound near the epicenter of the undead, became by far the most well-armed and equipped unit in Meridia.
Despite their small size, the Thirty Bastards conducted nearly a hundred effective combat patrols throughout the war, only losing four men in nearly fifteen years of fighting despite continuously engaging in risky and often nearly suicidal operations. Timon himself established a reputation as a tactical genius and a beloved leader, with his mere presence turning the tide of many skirmishes. While historians have often speculated on whether Timon was a mage of any sort, usually a Fate or War mage, analysis of contemporary records usually conclude that Timon lacked any magical ability, within itself rather strange for his station.
Despite their effective exile, the Thirty Bastards returned to Telzia as heroes after the end of the war. While never reintegrated into the Special Service formally, the surviving members became advisors and trainers within the Special Service, and reshaped the unit into the model for modern special forces through a focus on individual initiative and tactical training. Timon is widely regarded as the founder of the modern Special Service, who remain the most well-known and effective special forces unit in the modern world. Due to the secrecy of the unit, the names and fate of it's members are unknown, though Timon is known to have died in ~63 PM.
