V.A.L.K.
Trauma Teams are the Vault's best-known artifact seekers, but their most prolific is the V.A.L.K., the ‘Vault Analyst Long-range Kryolith.’ These enhanced Analysts are trained to be one-person retrievers, able to obtain relics, pilot their unique Preservation-class voidfighters, and do battle with anyone that gets in the way.
Appointment as a V.A.L.K. is hard-earned: those accepted into their ranks must have the necessary historic or anthropological expertise, and must undergo stringent combat training, above and beyond what is expected of even the most battle-hardened retrieval team members. Recruits submit to invasive psychological testing, ensuring their ability to endure the rigors of repeated kryolithic stasis, and their suitability as a one-person-army.
As if the selection process wasn’t difficult enough, anyone admitted must demonstrate a high-degree of proficiency as a pilot – failure to meet the Vault’s exacting standards for navigation, stealth, and combat, results in immediate dismissal from the program.
V.A.L.K. agents use a variety of equipment in their operations, suited to their individual preferences and mission needs. Common loadouts include:
• Pilot helm
• V.A.L.K. Annotation Pistols
• VSI Interceptor Rifle
And, of course, the Preservation-class Voidfighter
