Savunma (Sa-voon-mah / Zah-vun-mah)

Savunman was the goddess of defence, protectors, and vigilance. She was widely followed for her role as a defender of common folk. In particular, she was worshipped by halflings and kender as the closest thing to a war god, by dwarves, as well as more generically by town guards, watchmen, and some paladins.

Description

In artistic depictions, Savunman was shown as a young woman carrying a large shield and often weilding a polearm such as a spear or halberd. She was also frequently shown guarding innocent people from warriors, monsters, or even whole armies and defeating them.

Religion

Savunman was a key figure in the Halfling Pantheon, representing their war deity within the pantheon. That being said, even amongst halflings she was never shown as an aggressor but rather as a defender of their homelands.   She was also a feature of the Dwarven Pantheon. Despite recieving a reasonable amount of worship, particularly amongst guards and watchmen within dwarven cities, she was still viewed as a rather minor goddess within that pantheon.   She recieved widespread worship from common folk during times of war. This was particularly the case during sieges, where she was prayed to in order to rebuff the invaders. Occaisionally, she was called upon by relatives of soldiers alongside Dongusu and sometimes Merhamet in order to safely bring the warriors home unharmed.   Taking place on The Fading between the months of Setting and Frosting, her holy day included celebration and rememberance for those who died in service and defence of their community. The day, known as Ashen Day, consisted of hymn-like songs in celebration of mighty defences, as well as food and libations in honour of the dead. In settlements which also worshipped Dongusu, such as amongst Halflings, the day was sometimes called Ashen Phoneix Day due to it being a shared holy day with the god of the circle of life.
