Named Hours
Days are divided into two parts, marked by the weak lights at dawn and twilight. The 12 hours after dawn are numbered; the first hour, the second hour, the third hour, etc. The 12 hours after twilight are named, usually according to local custom, which varies from city to city. Most cities ring public chimes to mark the hours.
