Linathandra Winddancer
High Lady Linathandra Winddancer (a.k.a. Lady Lina)
Lady Linathandra Winddancer, Lady Lina to her friends and Mother Lina to her family is a princess of the Wood Elf tribe that rules much of the High Forest. A hundred years or so ago she joined an adventuring band that included a flamboyant young Waterdhavian noble, Raoul Guillaume de Gryphon. After many adventures together, the pair fell in love and married, much to the consternation of both the elders of the elven tribe and the Waterdhavian elite. The couple were steadfast in their relationship and eventually settled in with the De Gryphones in Waterdeep, causing quite a scandal. Lina’s connection to her family in the High Forest proved lucrative, however, as the De Gryphon family started importing fine wooden and magical goods from their in-laws. Money speaks loudly in noble society and eventually the scandal died down and the half elven nature of many of House De Gryphon became merely an eccentricity.
After her husband passed away, as short lived humans do too soon, Lady Linathandra remained as head of the De Gryphon family, her passion for her husband transmuted by grief into a fierce love for her children and children’s children. She bears a special fondness for Fiego, one of her grandchildren who reminds her achingly of her late husband. A lady of bearing and poise, Lady Linathandra navigates Waterdhavian high society with a grace that belies her eternally youthful features. She has invested the entirety of her long life to fostering the success of her descendents and the ongoing relationship between the peoples of Waterdeep and the High Forest.
Linathandra's Garden is famous in Waterdeep, the jewel of her collection is the rare Sunleaf Elm, a magical species that can only be found in the most remote groves in the High Forest. The Sunleaf Elm gathers sunlight during the day and releases it at night, attracting glowing pollinators. A Sunleaf sapling is a prized gift and the envy of many a higborn lady in Waterdeep.
