History
House Montaigne sits upon a secret, and the eldest heir to the family, Tully Montaigne, is living proof. A sudden illness left the well loved young heir in a coma and hovering at the edge of death for nearly a month. When Tully made a sudden recovery, House Montaigne all but let out an audible sigh heard all around Waterdeep. What of it if Tully seemed much more pallid and anemic? Temporary symptoms, surely. The truth, however, was that Tully returned as a sorcerer. He has reason to believe that his magic has strong ties to the realm of Shadowfell, and given his family history open opposition to the influence of Shar in the city he has chosen to keep his magic a closely guarded secret. Convinced that there is a greater truth about his magical origins he must discover before anyone else, he has taken to adventuring in disguise, keeping his own counsel and spending more time in the family’s well stocked library looking for answers. Externally, many of the other older noble houses are already quietly questioning House Montaigne’s position as a military force and many business rivals would love to challenge House Montaigne’s newly acquired (and growing) dominance in the publishing market. An increasingly eccentric heir is not helping.
