Great Worm of Obari
The Desert Devourer, The Amaranthine Maw
First, a trickle. Then, a rumble; the sands of the Obari Desert begin to shift underfoot. Suddenly, erupting from below a pack animal rises a gaping mouth lined with countless dagger-like teeth, encased in sturdy violet scales. The Great Worm consumes all in its path, sensing the motion of prey upon the surface of the desert sands and stone, and leaves behind countless miles of tunnels. Verily, the Amaranthine Maw is responsible for excavating much of Nijubari, the network of caverns and passages below the surface of Iqari, and in doing so releasing valuable minerals which it is unable to digest. As such, the creature is avoided or even protected rather than slain, because it has unearthed much wealth for those civilizations living both above and below the sands.
