Umbri Bantakith (oom-bree)

DnD: Goblins

When Sylphi get caught in the Atramenta (The Fae Realms), the corruption creates uniquely consistent results. Their bodies become more predatory: larger ears, sharpened teeth, camouflaged skin, heightened agility, and a killer instinct which allows them to hone in on weak points. The corruption can shorten their lifespans, but they are able to pass these traits down to their offspring. These Bantakith are known as Umbri.

Some Umbri sorcerers have discovered a way to replicate the corrupting effect of the Atramenta without the natural exposure, allowing them to bolster their numbers with captive Sylphi. It should be noted that the physical corruption does not fully affect the mind; some Umbri who were naturally cruel or malicious before transformation do see those traits exacerbated, however most good-natured ones seem unafflicted. The Umbri who are born rather than corrupted show no skewed affiliation towards evil any more than other sapients.
Referred to as "atrek bantakith" in the onemek language.
