Gunther Opus

Gunther Opus was the inventor of the firearm (later nicknamed 'guns' by the general public), as well as the founder of Opus Industries Incorporated, the largest and most successful firearms production company in the world.   Early Life   Gunther Opus was a half-dwarven man born in North Rendein in 10M86Y52D, and was born of a human father (Markus Opus) and a dwarven mother (Azusha). At the age of 18, Gunther joined the North Rendein military as a cannon operator during the Gemp War. During which, North Rendein's relatively slow, cumbersome ballistic weaponry was woefully outmatched by Shadeniin's spellcasting military forces. Gunther reportedly sighted this fact as the inspiration behind his first firearm prototype, which was designed to be a quickly drawn, miniature, handheld cannon capable of quickly dispatching spellcasters.   Opus Industries Incorporated   At the age of twenty-six, Gunther Opus founded Opus Industries and started production on two types of firearms which he dubbed "short-arms" and "long-arms". Short-arms being small, one-handed guns designed with portability in mind, and long-arms being longer, two-handed guns designed to be more accurate and powerful. The first model short-arm Opus Industries produced was the SA-12, which fired quarter-inch, copper ball bearings. The first model long-arm produced was the LA-12, which fired half-inch, copper ball bearings.   These firearms sold incredibly well, and by the age of forty-six, Gunther Opus was one of the richest individuals in North Rendein. Despite his success however, the firearms business was no stranger to competition amongst many companies. This led Gunther to designing a new model of firearm made out of tusnhalcum, which Gunther jokingly referred to as his "magnum opus". The increased durability of its frame would allow for larger ammunition.   Death   Gunther Opus went missing in 10M136Y102D, at the age of fifty, during a cave-in whilst on a mining expedition in search for halcum, which he planned to use in the new line of firearms. Gunther Opus's body was never recovered, and he was declared deceased 30 days later.   In honor of Gunther Opus, the inheritors of Opus Industries continued production plans for tusnhalcum firearms and sold them under the model name MO-37; "MO" standing for "magnum opus". These firearms set the standard for years to come.
