History of the Drow

Everything presented is subject to change as the adventuring party discovers hidden secrets.
In a bygone age, great war was had among the Drow. The followers of Eilistraee did do great battle with the malign forces of the Dark Seldarine: Lolth, Vhaeraun, and Ghaunadaur. Among the followers of Eilistraee was an ambitious warrior named Elendar Trenavyr and his few allies. The war lasted many Drow lifetimes and several of Elendar's allies did perish in great battle or old age, though he and one particular ally, named Gashnag, were made to be immortal by the Moon Mother.   In time, Vhaeraun and Ghaunadaur perished, felled by Elendar, who did wield the Crescent Blade. Towards the end of the war, Eilistraee lay poisoned and dying by the Spider Tyrant's deadly venom and at last Gashnag and Elendar began a two week battle with the Tyrant for the fate of the Underdark. In the end, the fearsome duo did overwhelm and slay the Dark Mother! And lo! Elendar did take the Weaver of Destiny's deific power and rose to the ranks of the divine!   Elendar would go on to help Gashnag throw off the shackles of his people's tyrannical god of sloth, Adgulg, who did nothing for her people. Adgulg fell easily, for what lesser deity could hope to stand against the duo that took down one of the most powerful deities to exist? And so, Gashnag did consume her power and joined his ally as a deity. However, each had his own people to take care of, and therefore they went their separate ways.   Elendar and Eilistraee would go on to try to help the Drow become integrated into the society of the Overworld following the fall of Lolth. It took quite a long time, but eventually the Drow joined the Overworld. However, times were not meant to stay peaceful...   In the aftermath of The Resurgence, the Drow in the Overworld felt a pull back underground. Every dead member of The Dark Seldarine was brought to life (a fact that leads many scholars to believe the Drow caused the entire Resurgence.) Though Elendar had taken Lolth's deific essence, she came back at full strength and the undeniable fact that the Drow were her children remained. Thus, the Drow felt her call and many joined her flock once more.   This lead to the period known as "Lolth’s Silence" by the races above. To everyone, it seemed the Drow no longer existed. Those that went to investigate never returned, though this was normal, for the Underdark has always been dangerous. Most assumed they had perished to other creatures that made their nest there. Others feared the Drow were just gathering strength. They were all wrong. The entire Underdark was engulfed in an all-out religious and political war...   Great War was had and lasted a little over a millennium, and, though this was much shorter than the previous Civil War, it was also much bloodier. Several Drow gods fell in the first century. The incessant infighting of the Dark Seldarine made victory over them come easily. Those remaining were Lolth, Elendar, Eilistraee, and Selvetarm, who had been dead during the first war. In the eighth century, Eilistraee and Selvetarm fell and Lolth and Elendar faced each other. The next four hundred years would prove brutal as the two had the exact same amount of power, though Elendar still wielded the god-slayer weapon.   The final battle came and Elendar was victorious, though history is relatively quiet on exactly how this battle went. Elendar became mute to his followers for some time, believed to have been recovering from such an intense war...   That was nearly ten millenia ago, and the Drow have rejoined the Overworld as productive members of society. They weren't welcomed warmly and the discrimination against them lasted for some time. However, that time has long passed.
