The Vailforge Legion

The Vailforge Legion, or The Legion, representing those devoted to the defense of the country through strict military order and hierarchy. Made up of the hundreds to thousands of Mercenary guiles that act as the closest thing to a law and order. Though not every Mercenary guild is part of the Legion, the Legion can call on and "deputies" any Mercenary Guild they choose if the republic has need of them.
Membership comes with perks like exclusive contracts and other more profitable work, and as such most guilds of the Legion are constantly jockeying for recognition and clout. In reality there are only really 5 legion contracts each dealing with a different form of major defense,

• National Defense- The Knights of the Burning Hands
• Civil Defense- The Widow Makers
• Intelligence Defense, Investigatory, and Espionage- The Dread Stalkers
• Occult and Magical Defense- The Silver Swords
• Specialized Defense- The Thunder Boys

These five legionary guilds in turn further subcontract the other mercenary guilds that are part of the legion. Making them responsible for the work of these guilds when acting in an official capacity as legionary guilds. It also means that these guilds can order the subcontracted guilds to perform certain quests or jobs.
