Mythology & Lore
Chaos is all around us, the world was born in chaos, and it lived in chaos. But life does not thrive in chaos, so order must be instilled.
Creation Myth:
Divine Bargain: Before Ealathra existed, chaos reigned. Asus, along with other deities, negotiated a truce with primordial forces, establishing order and law in exchange for certain concessions. This "bargain" forms the foundation of the legal system, with rituals and practices reflecting the terms of the agreement.
Broken Tablets: In this alternate creation myth, Asus originally gifted humanity a complete set of laws inscribed on stone tablets. However, during a great calamity, the tablets were shattered, scattering fragments across Ealathra. Seeking these fragments and deciphering their meaning became a core tenet of the religion.
Lost Civilization:
Golden Age of Law: Legends whisper of a bygone era ruled by Asus directly, where perfect order and justice prevailed. This lost civilization serves as a utopian ideal, inspiring the faithful to strive for a more lawful society.
Rebellion and Fall: Myths may hint at a rebellion against Asus' direct rule, led by a powerful entity seeking to break the chains of law. This event led to the "fall" of the perfect society, explaining the current imperfections and the need for constant pursuit of justice.
Forgotten Texts:
Secret Teachings: Whispers exist of ancient scrolls hidden away, containing additional tenets and interpretations of Asus' will, potentially challenging or expanding upon the commonly known teachings. The quest to find and decipher these texts could drive narratives and conflicts within the religion.
Lost Libraries: Entire libraries dedicated to Asus' teachings might be buried beneath ruins or guarded by secretive sects, holding forgotten knowledge about his true nature and the origins of the religion. Unearthing these libraries could reveal hidden truths and shake the foundations of established interpretations.
Divine Origins
Originally created to rally the morale of men fighting the undead to defeat Zalcaster, the religion found strong routes when the army was victorious. Over the years its origin was lost and it was always assumed Asus was always there.
Arguably the oldest religion within Ealathra it developed a hardcore fanatic following of people believing Asus to be the only god though these sects are all but extinct now.
Cosmological Views
Gods are beings of unimaginable energy that lat themselves to the beliefs of mortals. The faith of mortals provides a deity with not only power but the purpose. Gods can have many forms and they change them frequently. Once they have attached themself to a domain that enough mortals believe in they assume their role. For example, the divine entities might assume their place in the domain of fine cooking and win now any faith within the psychical planes tied to that domain fuels that god. Any being of raw power that does not assume godhood runs the risk of being consumed by other more powerful beings or dissipating back into raw unintelligent energy.
To its believers they think the world was lawless and violent then Asus delivered tenants to those who would listen and smitten those who disagreed. With law added to the lands, everyone could live in peace.
