Northern Slave Uprising

The Northern Slave Uprising was a conflict between The Northern Clans and their slaves. The uprise started following the clans' defeat in The Shadow War. It was a brutal and bloody uprise which ended with the death of many clan members and slaves. Yet in the end, many of the slaves gained their freedom and fled to the south. There they were taken in by the Ghynzuan Empire and given a new chance at life.

Prelude

In the years before the uprise the Northern Clans had been united under one banner. Their High King was a warlord by the name Duan the Fearless. And he had high ambitions. His goal was to regain land to the south. To do this, he declared war against the Ghynzuan Empire. For the first time, all clans were gathered together in a large open plain just north of the Empire's border. The war did not go according to plan though, and Duan was eventually assassinated. Many of the high-ranking warlords had died in the war, so when their army returned they were not as strong as they used to be.

The Uprise

For the first time in clan history, everyone was at the same location. Including their many slaves. This is when the slaves saw an opportunity to once and for all free themselves of their masters. They were close to the ghynzuan border. Which only added to their belief that they could make it. After the first reports came in about Duan's death and the army's defeat, the slaves did not hesitate. They had to make their move before the army returned. In the middle of the night, every slave took up a weapon and slid the throats of the sleeping clan members. Here and there, adults awoke and fought back, but to no avail. Young children were not killed but taken instead. Before the night had ended, the uprise was over. Slaves fled into the wilderness with their own children and those they had taken. They fled until they saw the lights of the ghynzuan watch towers.

Aftermath

When the clan army returned to their camp, they found most of them dead. Some had survived by hiding, others by sheer luck. It was so devastating that the remaining clan members packed what they could and fled deeper into the northern wilderness. They never fully recovered from these two consecutive conflicts. The slaves and taken children made a new life for themselves in the Empire.
