The Frozen City of Ishdal

Far north on the west coast of Eghea lies a city permanently surrounded by a frozen wasteland. Massive walls protect its citizens from the dangers lurking in the snow. For even this far north inflicted beasts can be found.

Ice and Snow Trade

The number one industry in Ishdal is the ice and snow trade. All year round workers cut ice into large cubes after which they get transported to various ice houses near the harbor. From there they are packed onto ships to be distributed to places all over the world. Snow gets a similar treatment, but instead of being cut it gets pressed into various shapes. These range from simple snowballs to shapes depicting trees, animals, birds, etc. Pressed snow is especially popular among the wealthy.

As I stood high upon the city walls the sun peaked over the horizon. Its rays spread over the frozen wastes. As far as I could see there was nothing but snow and ice. Never again have I felt as small as in that moment.

Such a unique take! I love that you incorporated ice trade into your remote snowy settlement.
