Nitt (N-Ih-t)

Nitts are the smallest race in Earck, standing about 4 to 4.6 feet tall. They are of a shy, intuitive and curious nature and love to create charts, maps, and systems of doing and understanding things better. They are also fond of exploring and are quite capable in the wild despite their small stature.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

Nitts, like men go through few external changes as they age, the only particular change being that their ears tend to lengthen as they get older and the same with their nose. When first born they are small, chubby with rounder ears and have large curious eyes. This gradually changes over time until they are about 20, when they are considered fully grown. From then on they change very little indeed, excepting occasional changes in hair. One strange fact about Nitts is that nomatter what their lifestyle, once they are 20 years old it is impossible for their physique to change, they will not get fatter or skinnier but remain almost entirely the same.  At the age of 70 that is when they usually start to show serous signs of age. These include; occasional facial hair, balding on head, increased appetite, and an inclination to take life very non-seriously.  The oldest known Nitt to have ever lived was 99 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Nitts are well suited for many environments, but prefer field-lands, woodlands, grassy hills and other environments that are not harsh or extremely barren of life. Nitts often enjoy gardening and studying the plants and their growth cycles. For some however this is too much of a stand-still, and they prefer to wander the lands from town to town mostly foraging and eating roots, herbs and berries which they have an instinctual intuition into and knowledge of.

Biological Cycle

Nitts are fond of not wearing shoes, due to their delicate sense of touch, however, in the Poor (rainy season), they often wear boots or waterproof shoes to keep from getting dirty and cold.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

high, they have a keen ability to detect patterns and systems in the world around them.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Nitts have the same senses as men, sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. They have been known however to have slightly keener sight than men and a very delicate sense of touch which helps them distinguish between the small things such as different coins or the textures of different soils.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Nitts dont have a specifically sent up naming tradition, they have a first and second name, the first represents themselves, and the second represents their parents or sometimes something their parents were famous for. (example: Nempton Nornson) Nitts also have a weird habit of always including and especially starting a name for both a place or person with the letter N.

Courtship Ideals

Nitt courtship is a matter hardly known or spoken of by outsiders. They meet, a year later they get married. That is what it appears to most. And for the most part it is pretty simple, there is no long and intricate courtship or trials, they simply believe that whoever you get along best with of the opposite gender you should probably marry. And so best friends often become lifelong partners and because of this often have fights or mess with each other playfully, but in most cases are very happy with their relationship.

Relationship Ideals

Nitt relationships are very similar to best-friendships. They are extremely playful, honest and often throw silly insults back and forth but always have the most loving of intentions. This is how it is and this is how they believe makes the most sense, due to their belief that you should spend your life with whoever you get along with best, best friends often become lovers and there is little gap between the two in terms of behavior. A happy relationship is joyful, playful, very open and straightforward as well as loyal and caring.

Common Dress Code

Nitts usually dress in either very bright colors or very dark ones. This is usually due to what their lifestyle is as well as their personality. Nitts who garden, live in towns or are seldom in the wild usually wear bright colors such as blue, red, yellow, pink and bright green, whereas nitts who prefer to travel and are often in the wild prefer to stay hidden with greys, dark browns and greens, and other such colors.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Nitts have a naturally friendly disposition to most races, although such races as birdmen, limrods and shadow elves often put them on guard. This is only fair however, due to their natural fear of large creatures and objects and pure vulnerability to such races.
