The Rhythm of the Moon
Rhythm of the Moon is a fighting technique used by the Black Knights of the Everlasting Wood. Named after the graceful dance of the moon; it is entirely focused on the mastery of balance, anticipation and maintaining the flow of movement.
The training of this art is split into 5 ranks, each training a new skill or mastering an earlier one.
Rank 1, New Moon: (strength) Trains by moving large rocks, wrestling, running with a heavy pack and sparring with staves.
Rank 2, Waxing Crescent: (agility) Trains by jumping repeatedly back and forth for stretches of over 30 minutes, sprinting short distances, running across ropes and dodging blows.
Rank 3, Half-moon: (balance) Practices standing on bars, running along ropes, wrestling on bridges and other various balance exercises in order to train soldiers to stay perfectly balanced at all times.
Rank 4, Waxing Gibbous: (control) Trains by repeatedly practicing fighting motions for hours on-end with various swords, staves, knives and halberds, switching them out in order to train adaptability and control over each weapon.
Rank 5, Full Moon: (anticipation) Trains the mind to anticipate the flow of energy through the body and weapons in order to avoid, block or parry the blows of the opponent.
After completing all training necessary, there is still a final test to be passed. To become a master, a student must
Every three years there is a competition held on the Day of the Blood Moon. All masters of the Rhythm of the Moon may participate while students observe from the sidelines. Masters of similar skill or which use similar weapons are set against each other and the winner moves up to fight the winner of another fight. The champion of the tournament is chosen to be trained in The Forces and will join the ranks of the Black Knights.

History
The Rhythm of the Moon was created by the Shadow Elves during the War of Envy, after which it was hidden and unused until the Adriphite War. Then it was resurrected, and taught once again to the warriors of cave and wood. A new force of warriors were made: The Black Knights were given deadly weapons forged in materials banned in by the kings of men.
