Lir'renthir (lih-REN-theer)
The Lir'renthir, literally meaning "People of the Spider's Den", or "Spider Eaters" to the common folk, are a reclusive race of ashen-skinned people with lanky, almost skeletally gaunt bodies. They dwell deep in the swamps and are shunned by most other societies due to their alien nature and strange practices. The tribe is run by a single elder, and the whole tribe is known for their ability to tame the large spiders which dwell in the swamp as companions, beasts of burden, and livestock.
Additionally, the Lir'renthir promote a rich culture of necromantic symbiosis with the swamp's fungal flora, using it to raise dead ancestors from the swamps in order to protect their territory. These ancestors, known by the Lir'renthir as Ish'thekar are of completely free will, willingly aiding in the defense of their homelands, before most return to rest within the calming embrace of the swamps. Despite their reputation, the Lir'renthir are generally peaceful and only use their powers defensively, but they are fiercely protective of their lands and will not hesitate to use their martial prowess and necromancy to ward off intruders.
