Petronila Cupitina
Cupitina is the owner of the Hotel España. Her husband, Angel, died three years ago, and she has continued to run the hotel single-handed, despite her advancing years. She spends much of her time sitting in an armchair in the hotel foyer, watching the world go by and chatting with guests.
If she suspects that a visitor is up to no good, she attempts to chase them off, waving her walking stick in a threatening manner and shouting about how her son, Fortunato, is a policeman and will throw them all in jail.
