After an unknown mutagenic mold was stolen from Paragon City University, the Devouring Earth emerged in several parts of the city. In Crey's Folly, an industrial center heavily damaged in the Rikti War, a quarry fell into a toxic waterway. When it clawed its way out, it tore down a large section of exposed steel beams and then fashioned them into a hammer with the addition of an abandoned sedan. This monster came to be known as Jurassik and it terrorizes Paragon City to this day in the ruins of Crey's Folly and the depths of Woodvale.

History

Cold War Era

The Rikti struck a Crey Industries facility in the Venice industrial park as their first target at the beginning of their surprise invasion. The destruction of that facility caused some type of toxin to spread everywhere. It turned the historically clear canals into rivers of noxious bog water. Venice was quickly abandoned to the toxins and the invaders until the war with the extraterrestrial invaders. The chemicals still hang around in the air and seem to prevent the existence of most biological life except for those that have been mutated or otherwise enhanced in some way.

Superhuman Registration Era

Years after the invasion and the Rikti were falsely said to have been pushed back to their homeworld, a man named Hamidon Pasalima broke into Paragon University and ran out with a mutagenic mold that had never been seen before and escaped the heroes that came to arrest him. Animate creatures of plant and stone emerged after the raid at Paragon University chanting their worship of The Hamidon, which was identified as a creature waiting outside the city in an area now dubbed The Hive. In Venice, now known as Crey's Folly because of the environmental disaster, a Quarry engaged in battle with a now-forgotten hero that knocked it into the green canals. Thinking the fight was over he dropped his guard, but the stone giant re-emerged larger, stronger, more resilient. The mutant quarry crafted a weapon from a handful of steel beams and an abandoned car then continued the fight. That hero fled, later dubbing the creature "Jurassik" before he was never seen again. Jurassik wanders between Crey's Folly and Eden via unknown means, soaking up more nutrients and the toxic chemicals that empowered him in the first place. Now, it is a creature of pure violence.
