Dolmens
The dolmens, standing stones, or singing stones of Devania were erected by the Dulmens (who earned their names for this feat). Across the hills and plains of this old nation, the dolmens dot the landscape in singlets, doublets, or even large congregations, though their initial purpose has long been forgotten - if there ever was one in the first place.
The dolmens have been the center of many conspiracies and mystical tales. Some believe the stones to be nomadic, and allegations of a stone teleporting have been made for about as long as the dolmens have existed. Others believe the stones sing The Oread Song as they whistle in the wind, though this is impossible to prove because of the wide distance between them and their sheer number. Always, there are fears of witches roaming in their midst, and the common sense for most folk in the nation is to give them a wide berth.
Destruction or desecration of the stones is widely considered to be an act of bad luck, despite their otherwise ominous nature. It's customary to repair any damage to a stone to appease its essence, and to sacrifice some part of one's property in homage to their strength. If the perpetrator of the damage is caught, then that sacrifice will come from their pockets, but otherwise most villages are more than eager to pitch in to stop the stones' supposed wrath.
