Heartstone Longhouse
Purpose / Function
The Heartstone Longhouse was constructed to provide hunting, skinning, and tannery services to the people of Vareholm and as a residence for members of the Heartstone Tribe living there.
Denizens
Currently Caelam Zefer Heartstone and Kitarel Vesneyva reside at the Longhouse along with their pets: Boxxy the red fox, Akula the three-eyed flying baby tiger shark, and Monty the owl. Every now and again, Zephyr will show up to work around the house and use the couch he brought.
Contents & Furnishings
Entering through the front door of the building leads into the relatively small storefront of the tannery. A small counter divides the space and provides a place to conduct business exchanges. Several completed projects that are currently for sale are on display upon various racks and a couple chairs are available for customers waiting to pick up orders. A wooden door behind the sales counter leads into the main living area of the house.
Within the main living area sits a fire-pit at the center of the house, over which a pot of water can normally be found. A small, simple dining table with 4 chairs is located nearby. A small hole in the roof directly above the pit allows the smoke to vent. Against one side of the room is a counter with various tools and kitchen utensils along with several water barrels stacked beside it. The opposite side of the room has been taken over by a makeshift conspiracy board made of several tanning racks with various notes pinned to them. The floor around that side is littered with papers and books. A sealed trap door is hidden in the floor towards the back of the room that leads into a hollowed out chamber beneath the house where the bodies of Mirini Heartstone and Ieara Biros Heartstone rest in peace.
At the back of the main room is a wooden door that leads to the bedroom. Inside is a massive bed on a wooden frame that takes up the majority of the space. A locked chest and an armor stand, built to hold Caelam's set of magic Plate Armor when not in use, sit off the left side of this bed. A door at the far side leads to a modest bathing and laundry area. The floor here is lowered in comparison to the rest of the house and contains a slightly raised tub with space underneath to light a fire, a couple clothes lines spanning the length of the room, and several other water barrels and buckets. Another door here exits to the rear of the house.
Alterations
In the time since its initial construction, the Heartstone Longhouse has been continually expanded and built upon. The interior space was divided to provide more privacy and separate the business portion from the living area while a bath/washroom was added to the rear of the house. After the death of Mirini Heartstone, a small tomb was dug out beneath the house in order to adhere to the burial traditions of the Heartstone Tribe.
History
The Longhouse was constructed in the spring of 241 by Caelam Zefer Heartstone and Jack Tillerman. They built the structure in secret on the outskirts of Vareholm as a surprise to the woman who had Claimed Caelam and brought him into the Heartstone Tribe.
