Arimandrian

Written by Salen

The tree city of Arimandrian (ar-e-man-drie-an) is the largest city in the Forest of S'ren. Located above the Geartrack station in the north, this is the first city that travelers stop at when they travel the Gerarail through the woods. The city is grown with magic into the large henna trees and walkways connect the trees so that elves never really have to touch the ground if they so choose. This city is home to several noble houses of elves, including Halloran, Silvertree, and Greenleaf.

Demographics

Elves are by far the dominant species here, with half elves making up only 1/5th of the population.

Government

The city is ruled by a Lord, that answers to the elven King.

Defences

As the second largest city in Syll the defenses that protect the inhabitants include both magic, soldiers, and airships, unlike some of the smaller cities that rely on magic and soldiers alone. This is in part to the famous battle named The Stand at Arimandrian, where the dwarves attacked with smaller Geartanks. Now the city boasts the woodland class 2 airship. This single driver airship is the fastest ship among the trees and comes with a standard six shooter armament attached to the side. They have fifty of these plus a standing count of 2000 troops that can be called to defend the city, as well as fifty magus.

Infrastructure

The massive bridges that span the walkways between trees are beautiful, as are the wind mills in the high branches that power so of the things that magic can't.

Architecture

The houses and buildings in Arimandrian are shaped with elemental magic, grown from the wood of the trees they rest in. Stairs and elevators take elves up and down the great trees, sometimes reaching heights of 100 feet above the ground.

Geography

Arimandrian rests in the northern S'ren forest and is covered with a thick canopy that lets in very little light, even at high noon.

Dropping from the Skies

The woodland class 2 airship, single driver is a small airship that uses stealth to surprise enemies from above. They airship is usually kept in high hangers in the tallest branches. When called to fight, they actually drop from the tops of the trees without powering up until the last second, sometimes smashing into enemy forces as they do. The brave pilots of this stealth ship are trained extensively and most are a bit unstable to begin with.
