Clockwork Assassin
Not truly a species per se, the clockwork assassins were created during the Great War by the dwarven Gearsmiths. They were originally made to take out enemy generals and to end the fighting quickly, but there sentience was an unknown side effect. The dwarves thought they were making a shell, connected to the brain of a body that would only serve to function alongside of the assorted gears and pulleys installed within the body. Little did they know they were creating a thinking being who would defy orders and kill whom they wish.
A clockwork assassin looks like the race it was made out of, usually human, but is covered in gears and wires all over its body. They are like snowflakes, no two looking the same, yet they all have one feature in common. A large key hole in the middle of their back. This key hole is for a key so that they can be wound up. This is the only way they can function, and if they do not get wound up, they start to slow down and eventually shut off altogether. They can have any eye/hair/height/weight combos usually tied to their base species, and they really have no lifespan to speak of. I they keep getting wound up, they can go practically forever. Sadly they were all wiped out during the Great War by the Psions

Sounds like they were really cool - and interesting - assassins!

Thanks! Now why would I create a species if I wasn't going to use them? Hehehehehe
