Gar

Written by Salen

The city of Gar, capitol of Garon'd, is the hub of the Gearrail system. It is here in this massive city that the tracks all come home to, and the schedules are made. The City is located on top of the Drop, right next to the Highriver, and has an awesome view of the rest of the continent. Airships constantly fly in and out of the huge airstrip located in the back of the city, and the castle rests in the front by the Fall.

Demographics

Gar has the highest ratio of humans in any city throughout all of the nations. Dwarves come in a distant second, mainly from all of the mines scattered around Garon'd and there hasn't been an elf in the capitol for years.

Government

Another Hereditary Monarchy, Gar has been run by the Snowmane family for centuries. In recent years the Kingship has passed to the Blackstone line, with the death of the King and Queen. Unlike other nations, the capitol of Garon'd is run by the King and his advisory council.

Defences

Gar's airship fleet, is second only to Syll. They have over 100 airship mark 7 Warcraft, 30 air50 craft, and dozens of smaller craft. Their standing military is numbered at over 6000, and 2/3rds of that are airship combatants.

Infrastructure

Gar is one of the only cities in Tamia that has working sewers. It also has different levels of underground caverns devoted to construction of Gearrail parts, coal mines, and various forges.

History

The high seat of humanity after Anor, Gar was the first city built up on the Drop and it has grown over the centuries. Built on the caverns near the Falls, the city has evolved into a hub of technological wonder.

Architecture

All of the houses are mostly stone here in the city, and the rich have built villas around the edges of the city.

Geography

Surrounded by cold mountains and plains, Gar is one of the windiest cities as it sits on the edge of the Drop.

King's Castle

Originally called castle Snowmane, Lord Vallis had the castle renamed after his ascension. The castle sits on the edge of the highriver as it spills over into the fall, and has underground caverns built under it that lead behind the water as it cascades down. It was always used as an escape plan, with secret stairs leading to a landing with a small airship waiting. The ship could seat two and was programed to guide itself down the Fall slowly, its blades spinning to slow its descent. The ship was lost when the King and Queen were killed 15 years ago, and Lord Vallis has never bothered to replace it, nor has he even bothered to go down here, sealing the secret door away.
