Gearwheel 770

Written by Salen

The Gearwheel 770 is a luxury vehicle sold primarily in Anor. It is built for ice driving when the nation is locked in the grip of Frostfall. It has iron wheels for in the front for maneuverability, and tread wheels in the back for grip and propulsion over slippery surfaces. The steam driven clockwork gears propel the vehicle across the land at fast pace, and it has a retractable roof that can go up for cold weather, or close for the cold months. They are usually trimmed in silver and gold for the rich that buy them.

Ralia heard the crack of a pistol, and then it echoed a second time. Just as she was about to roll for cover, she heard the strange man tell her to breathe. She did so with a sarcastic smirk, then saw the woman stand and push the young one protectively behind her. She looked vaguely familiar, and it wasn't until she spoke that Ralia knew who it was. "Oh my Gods it's the Queen!" She ran forward and grabbed her knives, then saw more men coming. "My name is Ralia and this is...."

"Aleksandr, my Queen. We are at your service, but we must move." He looked at the car she was hiding behind. It was a Gearwheel 770, built for ice driving. Iron wheels in the front and Tread wheels in the rear.

Variants

The Gearwheel 770R (shown above and in the upper right) is a variant of the ice driving gearwheel favored in Anor. This model has four wheels but is the same in every other way. Most nobles in Gar have taken to buying these, but have no need of the tread as they use them more in the city's then traveling the country side.

The Paranoid Rich

Though these vehicles are more for show that durability, the rich are often paranoid enough to want additional security. Most of the 770 series out there has weapons that can be unveiled in a crisis. By throwing a lever, two small black powder sixshooters come out of the hood and can fire in a straight arc in front of the Gearwheel.
