Lyl
Lyl (pronounced Lie'el) is the capital of Syll and is the largest city in that nation. Famous for their magus's and airships, the city of Lyl is the hub of order and justice in the west. The crystal city stands as a bastion of magic and peace, being created by magic and grown from the ground up. Its many towers and high walls show anyone that they are ready to defend themselves, and they have both the magic, and technology to do so. Giant windmills are stationed in the back, catching the wind and turning it into power for the elven smiths and the airships sit ready on the huge field waiting to defend their city. Situated in the west of Tamia, Lyl is about 30 miles from the crystal river and has an outpost to watch for threats that might come out of the Torn Lands.
Demographics
Lyl is mainly elven and half-elven, with a small mix of humans and dwarves. There is a dwarven embassy in Lyl that was established for visiting Gearsmiths so they could sell their inventions to the elves.
Government
Lyl is ruled by the Highlord, who answers to the King of the elves in Crystalspear castle. The Highlord runs the day to day in Lyl, answers to the King on all matters of state
Defences
Lyl probably has some of the best defenses for any city in all of Tamia. their airship fleet in second to none, and with the magic of their Magus's, not too many people could openly attack them and do well. Lord Vallis has been the only one to try it in over 500 years, and when he attacked Lyl last year, it was basically a feint to get them to show how powerful they were and to make them fear him.
Infrastructure
The Windmills in the back of Lyl are unique and are the only ones in Tamia so far. Gar has requested the specs from the leven smiths, but with the latest warlike advance, the elves are holding their cards close to their chest
Guilds and Factions
The Magus guild headquarters are found here, as is the Archmagus of that guild.
History
Unlike most other capital cities in Tamia, Lyl wasn't the first city they had settled in. Originally they started in the Forest of S'ren, and made Tir-lythal their capital city. That city was destroyed in the First War, and they never rebuilt it after that horrible time in history. Since then they started on Lyl and they built it in the open plains, more to show the others that they had nothing to hide.
Architecture
The elven houses in Lyl are all made of white marble and other types of stone found in the earth under the city. The magus's call to the rock and pull it up, forming it into homes and villa's with magic, trying to preserve the natural beauty of the world.
Geography
Lyl is found on the wide plains of western Tamia. High grasslands and small rivers shoot off of the Crystal river, and the wind blows across the fields like a howling beast.

Too Powerfull?
In looking at the other nations and capital cities, one would think that the elves are far too powerful to not rule all of Tamia. However this isn't completely true. To an exent the elves are strong; with magic and technology at thier dosposal they can match any one nation easily. Thier airships are magnificent, and with magic they could even boost their defenses if need be. That being said let's look at what is holding them back. For one, remember they tried that before. When they fought the other races they saw the humans and dwarves band together against them. If they attacked today, the same thing might happen, bringing the other three nations together and defeating them soundly. Oh they would put up a fight, but against all three they would lose. So, not only does the Truce hold them at bay, but the fear of unification is there as well. With the attack of Lord Vallis, some elves are calling for attack, since the nations are at odds. Only time will tell what might happen.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
