The Fall of a Fateful Star

In which Raervyn was injured by a falling star, permanently giving her the ability to cast magic without memorizing the rituals.

When Raervyn Halloran was very young, only 18 years of age, another star fell from the night sky and impacted the plains in Syll. It wasn't big at all, merely 3 feet in diameter, but It hit right near her, throwing her at least 12 feet away. When she came to, about an hour later surrounded by her friends and family, she had been bandaged up, yet she could still feel burning in her chest. They sped her to the capitol to be seen by the priests, yet it was the Archmagus Salen that came to her rescue first. He had seen the rock fall burning to the ground and knew that it was a symbol, of what he wasn't sure, but he knew he had to be there. So he arrived just as they started off and he stopped them, calling to the fire within her chest and soothing it, yet there were still fragments near her heart that he couldn't touch, so he stabilized her and prayed for the best. Now she can cast magic simply by asking for anything from the elements.
