Lost

The Northernmost point of what can be considered the Lhazaareen archipelago, the island of Lost rests well within the arctic circle of Eberron. Icebergs float around the island, glaciers can be seen inland even from the ships that pass by, and it is common for it to be snowing. There is only one known port of entry to Lost, Gray's Rest, and the entry is always swarmed with dangerous icebergs and frozen over in the winter months, cutting Lost off from the rest of the world for several months at a time. The island was first discovered by accident due to Sir Federer Gray of Aundair being blown off course by late autumn winds. Sir Gray would also be the first to discover that Lost became cut off from the world during the winter, and whose passing would give Gray's Rest its name. The island is now host to the Ghost Tide Principality, one of the most mysterious groups in Lhazaar, and their leader The Phantom Speaker.

Geography

Most of the island is mountainous, marked with caves, glaciers, and fissures. Frozen lakes inland are the most common food source for many on the island.

Ecosystem Cycles

The small bay of Gray's Rest freezes over in Winter, effectively cutting off the island from the others for some time. There are certain icebreaking ships that the Ghost Tide uses to leave and reenter, but these are not widely used. Most people leave before winter sets in to avoid this.

Localized Phenomena

Aurora Borealis is common.

Fauna & Flora

Elk and deer. Fish in the inland frozen lakes, although these fish tend to fight back. People hear lots of wolves at night, although no large population of wolves has ever been noted on the island.

Natural Resources

Little to nothing. There is barely enough for the people to subsist in the winter.

History

Founded by Sir Federer Gray of Aundair. Legend has it, that the island was discovered once one of Sir Gray's men informed him they were lost before immedietely bumping ashore on the island that was hidden in front of their eyes by the mist. This prompted Gray to respond: "well this must be lost then!" and thus the island was apparently given its name. Whether the story was true or not the name stuck.

Tourism

The people who come to lost are there because they need to, as the parlance of Lhazaar says, "Get Lost." People who come to Lost do so because they need to disappear, and the culture of the ghost tide is the unique result of that. This has resulted in the makeup of the population of Lost-or at least the perception of it-being of people on the run from the law for murder, thievery, and other such crimes.
