A Brief History of Eberron

A rough timeline of the important eras and events in the history of Eberron.

The Age of Dragons

Circa 10,000,000 Years Ago

In the mythic past, the world was one and the Progenitor Dragons, the first and greatest of dragon-kind, ruled all. The three most powerful (Siberys , Eberron , and Khyber ) discovered (or created) the Draconic Prophecy. Khyber and Siberys disagreed over the Prophecy and battled with one another. Khyber was victorious over Siberys, and sought to take control of the Prophecy, only to be attacked by Eberron . Eberron wrapped his coils about Khyber , trapping the evil wyrm.

The Age of Demons

Cira 10,000,000 to 100,000 years ago

The age in which the children of khyber overran the surface world. A hellscape where Rakshasas and night hags are said to have ruled.

    Offspring of Khyber overrun the surface world.

The Age of Giants

Circa 80,000 to 39,000 years ago

The age of the rise and fall of the Giants . Establishing their civilization in the wake of the dragon - fiend war the Giants inadvertently drag the lesser races of of their privative states. It is largely unknown how the Giants fell from power, what is known is that the remains of their former continent now lie largely beneath the sea.

    The giants rise from the ruins of the Dragon-Fiend Wars to establish a civilization on the continent of Xendrik . They enslave the primitive elves , which has the inadvertent effect of pulling the first of the common races out of their primitive state.

The Age of Monsters

Circa 38,000 to 4,000 years ago

In this age a variety of "monsters" appear and claim various degrees of supermecy over Eberron. The first of the goblinoid kingdoms form, the Orc nations rise and the Daelkyr breach the material plane.

    Age of Monsters Begins
    Era beginning/end

    The giants revert to primitive monsters living in the ruins of their shattered civilization as the dragons return to their secluded continent and the elves settle Aerenal . The first of the goblinoid kingdoms Dhakaan , rises in the area that will one day become Breland and Darguun .

The Current Age

Circa 3,100 years ago to present day

The beginning of "modern" "civilization". The first of the Dragonmarks appears among the Halflings of the Talenta Plains and the Elves of Aerenal early in this era. The Kingdom of Galifar is founded marking the year 1 (YK, Year of the Kingdom)

    The City of Sharn is Built
    Construction beginning/end

    The city of Sharn is built on top of the ruins of the city of Shaarat by King Breggor.

    Disaster / Destruction

    The city of Sharn is destroyed in the final year of the War of the Mark .

    Galifar I is Born
    Life, Birth

    Galifar I is born in the city of Korth in Karrnath .

    The Kingdom of Galifar is Founded
    Founding

    Galifar I and his five scions - Cyre, Karrn, Thrane, Aundair, and Brey - take control of the Five Nations and establish the Kingdom of Galifar.

    Sharn is rebuilt

    The city of Sharn is once again rebuilt on top of the old cities' ruins.

    First lightning rail connects Flamekeep and Fairhaven .

    The Last War Begins
    Military action

    King Jarot , the last ruler of Galifar dies. Thalin , Kaius , and Wroann reject the succession of Mishann . Wrogar backs his sister's claim, and The Last War begins.

    Karrnath embraces The Blood of Vol
    Revolution

    Desperate to save Karrnath from the ravages of The Last War, Kaius I of Karrnath pledges his kingdom to The Blood of Vol

  • 990 YK

    First Airships Used
    Technological achievement

    The first elemental airships go into service for House Lyrandar .

  • 994 YK

    Cyre is obliterated
    Disaster / Destruction

    A magical blast of unprecedented power obliterates the nation of Cyre creating the Mournland .

  • 996 YK

    The Treaty of Thronehold is signed
    Diplomatic action

    The Treaty of Thronehold officially ends The Last War. The treaty officially recognizes the nations of Aundair , Breland , Thrane , Karrnath , the Talenta Plains , Zilargo , Qbarra , the Lhazaar Principalities , the Mror Holds , the Eldeen Reaches , Darguun , and Valenar . The treaty further commands House Cannith to destroy the creation forges (the devices used to create warforged ). Remaining warforged are granted the rights of sentient beings.
