Princess Eliri ir'Wynarn is the oldest living claimant daughter of King Boranel ir'Wynarn, the King of Breland. Her claim to the Brelish Crown was confirmed by her father on her sixteenth birthday as per Brelish tradition. While she is the third child of the King, she enjoys the status of heir presumptive as her eldest sibling died in the Last War and her other elder sibling very famously requested to be disinherited so he could flee Wroat, take a new name, and become an adventurer on his sixteenth birthday.
While she is a leading claimant, she faces competition from a variety of sources. Within her family, her youngest brother and sister have yet to confirm their intentions to place themselves forward as claimants, making her claim substantially weaker for the time being. While her other siblings have declared their intentions to not put themselves forward as claimants, it is possible that their mind changes before their father's inevitable death. Additionally, the political situation in Breland is becoming increasingly anti-monarchist, leading to a complicated situation regardless of who succeeds King Bornael.
Early Life
Eliri was born to her father King Boranel and his second wife Queen Dabren on the 12th day of Eyre in the year of 972 YK. She was the third child of the King and with two highly capable and gifted siblings older than her she naturally was not praised and focused on as much as the presumptive heirs of Breland at the time. This infuriated Queen Dabren, who already held contempt for her husband from the nature of their political marriage, from the affection he still held towards his late wife from Cyre, and her stepchildren that she was forced to take care of. Eliri was tutored early on as a little girl from her, and subsequently picked up much of her mother's opinions and sentiments while she was young.
However, her whole world was soon shaken by the surprise passing of her mother in childbirth with her younger brother Gabriel. Despite the best medical treatment in all of Breland, Queen Dabren could not be saved, and Eliri was left without parents for nearly an entire year as her father was busy overseeing the war effort.
Despite her father remarrying to his third and final wife Eliri never really grew close with any of her family with the exception of her younger brother. Her focus remained solely on her studies and duties as Princess to Breland, just as her mother had taught her long ago. Her father was always an absent figure in her life, as he was unable to spend much time with her until the Treaty of Thronehold was ratified.
Adulthood
Most of Princess Eliri's adulthood was as the presumptive Crown Princess of Breland, but because of succession complications, she was denied that recognition for the most part. Despite his prior aloofness to her, King Bornael was able to recognize this and after the Treaty of Thronehold was ratified he spent much of his time back in Breland assessing his likely heiress to discover if she was fit to rule or not, as he had the final say of succession in his will. While she is far from openly hostile to her father, their interactions at times are cold and he often privately remarked to his closest advisors that Eliri inherited some of the worst tendencies her late mother had. Still, she is undoubtedly capable and more likely than not will be the Queen of Breland given the absence of her older brother and the need for her younger siblings to prove themselves.
