Truth

Truth is an ancient sword that has been given many other names over the centuries. Most recently, it is called Oathkeeper, a name given to the blade by the Wyntersyls.   Galather, an archmage and lord of dust, discovered that Oathkeeper is actually Truth (Tetsuo) and that it was created as part of a pair -- Truth’s sister sword was called Consequences (Toshiko).  Truth and Consequences were examples of the finest Dhakaani swordsmithing and enchantment in the time of the Dhakaani empire, and they were carried into battle by hobgoblin heroes and princes for generations.     Truth was lost in battle and taken up by the elves who killed its bearer. The elves renamed the blade Misery’s End, and with that name, separated from its mate, the sword served forces that fought to defeat Levistus eons ago, when he nearly completely escaped from his prison at Icerazor.   The blade returned with the elves to their nearly timeless homes, where it languished for centuries until it was stolen by adventurers and then lost when those adventurers were killed by a dragon. Later it was stolen from that Dragon’s hoard and had a short career in the hands of thieves and pirates under the name Remorse.   Remorse fell into the hands of barbarians in the demon wastes, who gave it no name, and who lost it in the battle in which Ivor Wyntersyl earned his title and knighthood -- and was given the apparently nameless sword.
