Session 30: The One with the Corpse Flowers
General Summary
The party heads into the woods of Yiklark searching for the monster causing all the trouble. Celosia Senho is extremely caffeinated. After a time Ripper speaks with the local vegetation and finds the grass and trees are big fans of the monster, and reluctantly point toward a copse of trees containing said hero of root-based life.
What emerges, first from the copse indicated, was a corpse flower. The monster attacks with zombies and vines. A second corpse flower shows up nearby and joins the fray. Celosia becomes hastened for much of combat, and the party is victorious, though they took their share of damage along the way. Celosia becomes tired, and then passes out.
The death of the corpse flowers resulted in an explosion of rank plant pulp, coating many of the players and leaving them smelling obscenely foul. Doth, and the rest of Yiklark, are grateful for their help, but would prefer the party keep their distance. The party cleans up, works hard to get rid of the smell, and then gets on the road. Hult gets to see what it's like to ride up front with Tarryn Rowntree, and they set forth.
The party stop that evening in a nice clearing and, unable to take advantage of Celoisa's towers, make camp. There is another (normal) wagon next to them with a Tabaxi merchant and a pair of Loxodon guards. The Tabaxi offers to share his fire for a story, and his food for some drinks. The party take him up on the offer.
The party learns the merchant is familiar with Feldspar Merrlin, and that he is traveling from The Great Crag. He tells the group the The Daughters of Sora Kell are extremely frustrated with the Dragonmarked Houses, but that they have a plan. And, he tells them quietly, the Houses are making plans of their own...
