Session 9: Movin On Up
General Summary
Party wraps up their business in Settlement . Ripper delivers the collected bodies to the ants. Bug is overjoyed on their behalf. They also leave the display case from the Murder House with Doc to investigate. Then, at Vala Matar 's urging, they head back to Lower Dura .
Once in Lower Dura, the party meets with "Tiny" Maycey . He explains the leadership of The Boromar Clan discovered Leo Boulderdown was behind the entire cult business, and a Symbol was found carved into his skin. He was executed, and the matter is considered closed. The Boramar clan was pleased to reward the party (See below) for their work. The party, as a whole, remain unconvinced, and Tiny is clearly unhappy with the way this has gone. He shares an awkward goodbye, and tells Tunruk he has also been requested by The Daask at The Cracked Mirror .
At the Cracked Mirror, the party finds Dovrug Thunderclap waiting with Ice . Dovrug explains an item has been stolen while in transit from the Mournland to Morgrave University . The team escorting the item was ambushed, and Ice was the only survivor. He is extremely hesitant to discuss the stolen artifact, but gives them a detailed description of the chest. It has a magical lock that will be tough to open. He provides a runestone that works as a key. Their contact at the University, Professor Makeda ir'Zana , (and Daask contact Grophy ) may be able to provide more information. The party elects to check out the scene of the attack first. However, Tunruk is called back to the Daask for other business. They leave Ice to assist the party in the investigation.
Back alley in Upper Northedge
-VERY clean
-Dress shop back entrance, with crates and barrels stacked outside
-Signs of the battle (bloodstains, bolts/arrows), but no bodies (bodies were there with Ice awoke and fled)
-Found tiny spying device behind crates
-Celosia and Toox go into the dress shop
-Elizabeth Mowbray sells them a dress (600gp, paid 300gp down)
-Racist folks abound, the city watch stopped & harassed Ripper and Ice.
-Ripper goes wolf, goes and sniffs the alley, smells something deeply wrong.
After going back to the Professor, the group realizes the escort was way outside of where it should have been. Despite a lot of efforts toward secrecy, it appears the (now dead) driver/leader of the escort led the group to the alley in Upper Menthis . The professor doesn't know much about the artifact, only that the Daask were looking for items of demonic origin in the Mournlands... which is odd, since demonic activity is found in the Demon Wastes, not the Mournland. She also states she did nothing to remove the bodies, but assumes it was the work of the Daask.
The Professor realizes she only spoke about the false route into the city in her office. She tells the party to leave, and will send word to Celosia's residence after she does some investigating. The party disburses, but not before picking up the dress. City Watch investigators have still not arrived, much to Elizabeth Mowbray 's disdain. Afterward, Toox and Ice head to the Cracked Mirror, Celosia to her home, and Ripper to The Greenhouse .
