Carrion Crawler
A Carrion Crawler is a burrowing aberration that scavenged the dead and occasionally preyed on living creatures. Similar to a giant, toothed centipede in appearance, carrion crawlers are often accompanied by a foul odor of death, which warned others of their approach.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Carrion crawlers are large, pale yellow, and greenish aberrations whose appearance is akin to a four- to ten-foot-long centipede (or grub, as they have no shell). Crawlers possess eight long tentacles protruding from the sides of their heads, allowing them to stun prey through a poison secreted from said tentacles. Carrion crawlers also have two eye stalks, through which they could perceive their surroundings even in the darkest caverns.
Ecology and Habitats
Carrion Crawlers live in wet caverns deep under the earth. They don't have the ability to dig very easily, so they prefer large natural caverns or abandoned lairs of other creatures as their nesting ground.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Due to their secluded habitat, Carrion Crawlers are normally scavengers, though they'll take a live meal when they can get one.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Carrion Crawlers have excellent darkvision, and a keen sense of smell.
