Fenstad Academy of Ruthorian History (Fen-stad)
The Fenstad Academy of Ruthorian History is a walled Ruthorian school in Citadel Fornyr. Most humans living in the territory of House Battleborn have attended this school at around the age of 14. The school used to be just called "Fenstad Academy" but Sarvon Battleborn added the "of Ruthorian History" to the end. This change came along with an overhaul of the curriculum, prioritizing teaching of Ruthorian history over the regular subjects (other subjects such as basic writing and reading are still present, but somewhat pushed to the side). The classes that are just as prominent as Ruthorian history are religious studies, and the Ruthorian combat training the schools across the empire are known for.
Purpose / Function
The Fenstad Academy is a Ruthorian school, to teach Ruthorian youth in House Battleborn territory. The subjects they teach are Ruthorian history, religious studies, basic reading, basic writing, and combat training.
Architecture
The school is split into three simply-designed buildings, cut off from the rest of the High Town district by stone walls meant to stop people who aren't students or staff from entering. The gates are guarded by city guard members at all times.
- Courtyard: The courtyard is a large grassy area connecting all the buildings. In the center of the courtyard is a large metal statue of Erathis.
- Student Center: The student center is the leftmost building on the campus. Inside is the great hall where students are fed, and dormitories where students who don't live in Citadel Fornyr stay.
- Schoolhouse: The building in the far center of campus, the Schoolhouse is where the classrooms for Ruthorian history, basic reading, and basic writing are located. There is also an indoor chapel attached to the building, where religious studies are taught.
- Training Yard: Less of a building and more of a fenced-in field, the Training Yard is where students get their Ruthorian combat training. The yard can only be entered through a medium-sized building in which training weapons are stored and cared for. These training weapons are under no circumstances allowed outside of the Training Yard.
Defenses
The walls around the school are not thick enough to stand on, but city guards patrol the outside perimeter to ensure nobody who isn't supposed to be on the campus gets in. Various city guards patrol the campus itself, especially around the Training Yard.
History
The Fenstad Academy was originally constructed before the rule of Sarvon Battleborn, at the order of Erart Ruthen. House Battleborn being so loyal to the empire, constructed it without complaint and named it after the first headmaster, Arthur Fenstad.
