The Tipsy Tree
The Tipsy Tree is a tavern built around a huge Treble Tree, making it the center of attention in the bland village of Yellowfield. The tree has been lovingly cared for since it was a seed by Marmet Gleucester, who devoted his entire life to the tavern since the moment it was planted by his now late father.
Purpose / Function
To provide a place for the hard-working farmers of Yellowfield to socialize after a hard day of work. It also is the only place to sleep in the small village for the many merchants who pass through.
Architecture
The Tipsy Tree resembles a giant wooden dome-like structure, with windows placed every so often along its perimeter. At the very apex of the dome is a hole from which the trunk of the Treble Tree emerges, twisting a couple of feet further up before branching into its signature red leaves. These red leaves make the structure stand out anywhere in the village, as they are always visible. Inside is the base of the Treble Tree which sits precisely in the middle of the building. Around the tree in a circle is the bar, and beyond the bar are the tables. The floor is made of cobbled stones, though the tree grows from a large pot connecting to the earth below. The Treble Tree grows in its signature treble clef shape before growing out of view through a hole in the roof. On the side of the room opposite the door is a small stage upon which traveling performers are welcome to play. On the side to the left of the door is a curved staircase that leads to the basement, where kitchens and rooms for guests are located. Flanking each side of the stage are human-sized wooden idols depicting Chauntea on the left side and Erathis on the right.
Defenses
Marmet Gleucester's late father taught him how to wield a rapier, and passed down the family rapier to him when he died.
Tourism
Being the only remotely interesting location in the mostly agrarian Yellowfield, The Tipsy Tree is visited often by travelers and merchants.
"In the center of the village is a large wooden dome, with what seems to be the top of a tree emerging from the top. The tree's canopy of blood-red leaves extends further than the radius of the dome, blanketing the surrounding area in a cool shade. A red door with a circular window is carved into the side of the dome, and a sign hangs above the door that reads The Tipsy Tree." -Description of the outside of The Tipsy Tree
"As you enter the building, you see multiple tables placed around a circular bar in the center of the room. Behind the bar is the base of the tree you saw growing out of the room, whose trunk is peculiarly tied into the shape of a musical treble clef. Behind the counter In the back of the room is a stage for performers flanked by two wooden statues of different feminine figures."
