Mad Mary's Townhouse

The dilapidated townhouse stands as a silent testament to a tragic tale, shrouded in mystery and sorrow since the passing of its former inhabitant, the widow known as Mad Mary. In life, Mary's sole companion was her beloved daughter, Gertruda, whom she sheltered from the outside world with unwavering devotion. But as Gertruda matured, her yearning for freedom and adventure led her to flee their home, leaving behind a shattered mother consumed by grief.   In her anguish, Mary clung to a tattered doll, a relic of her own childhood that she had bestowed upon Gertruda. This eerie figure, dressed in a sackcloth garment, became a haunting symbol of Mary's loss, a reminder of her daughter's absence that echoed through the empty halls of the townhouse.
With Mary's passing, whispers of her ghostly presence began to circulate among the locals, weaving tales of her mournful wails that pierced the stillness of the night. Brave children would venture near the abandoned residence by day, fueled by dares and curiosity, but none dared to set foot inside after nightfall, for fear of encountering the specter said to roam within.   The legend of Mad Mary and her tragic tale endures, a cautionary reminder of love lost and the enduring power of grief that lingers long after life has faded away.
