Tooran Okamodo

In the company of others, Tooran becomes the life of the party, the one who can bring a smile to anyone’s face; a true feet among the otherwise reserved monks of the monastery. He wears a mask of cheerfulness, entertaining those around him with quick wit and lighthearted banter.   Yet behind the laughter and jovial demeanor he dons, a thin veil of humor masks the inner turmoil he seems to carry. He uses wit and jest as a shield, deflecting attention from his inner demons and avoiding discussions about a painful past.   With a bottle of sake in hand, he seeks solace in the numbing embrace of alcohol, using it as a temporary escape from the haunting memories that plague his mind. In the depths of his sorrow, he drinks to dull the pain, to silence the accusing whispers that echo within him. On occasion and under the sway of alcohol, he has let slip the name of the home he and Sui Okomodo fled: Rokushima Táiyoo.
