Darastrix Isle

The Darastrix Isle is the common name used for a series of islands found towards the center of the Great Maw.

Geography

A collection of two large islands, with a series of significantly smaller ones dotted around the two of them.   The largest island has majority forest coverage, with rolling hills towards the east, and pocketed grassland areas in the west. Towards the eastern hill regions is an extensive network of caves, where any passages to The Underdark were collapsed long ago by the areas dragonkind inhabitants.   The second largest of the islands to the east is a long 'sea stack' mountain chain. This island has much less in the way of tree coverage, with the only trees to be found high on the cliffs. This island has a long cave network running through it.

Fauna & Flora

Flora: Tropical plants with a high humidity and thick jungles.   Fauna: Sentient plants, dinosaurs on the large islands. Mainly exotic jungle mammals on the smaller islands.

Natural Resources

Exotic animals, rubber trees, precious gems and minerals.

History

The Darastrix Isle was unknown to most of the world for a long time, owing to its inhospitable nature. Before The Decline, when giants and dragons were the dominant forces of the world, dragons would use these islands for safe refuge from those giants incapable of sea-faring. There was only one battle fought here between the two ancient races, however it is widely regarded as the bloodiest and most devastating one to have occurred. Long after this, as the smaller races grew in prestige and power, a group of chromatic dragons took refuge on the island, and began what is now known as Darastri .

Tourism

Most tourists come in the form of dragonborn intending to move here, or on pilgrimages. Non-dragonborn are sometimes considered welcome, but with a heavy dose of skepticism on their reasons for coming.
