Jade, the Emerald Mother Dragon
The 2nd Eldest of The Dragon Sisters. Much like her predecessor, Safir, Sapphire Mother Dragon, she has power over the Earth, but more specifically over the Fields, along with the act of Farming, and the process of Alchemy.
Some say that she appears to her followers in the form of a Wood Elf, with pitch black hair and green skin, adorned with a belt of many pouches, and a dress that flows into the earth, appearing like grain coming out of a field. If she appears to a follower, she will test their wisdom and kindness.
As described in The Words of Safir, Jade was the second Dragon Sister to hatch from her egg. Finding herself encased in earth, much like her elder, but rather than being deep underground, she found herself breaching the soil, her form barely buried under the earth. As she glided forward out of her former position, she found she soared through the ground, leaving tilled fields in their wake. As she beat her wings, minute fractions of her scales landed in the field, and grew to become massive plants. She discovered she could transmute her scales into seeds of various kinds, and this spurred on her love of farming, and also her love for alchemy, experimenting and testing with the various plants her magical scales grew.
When she met her sister, and the Mortal Forms who had flocked to her, she was pleased to discover that their powers could work in tandem, breaking apart hard fields to find rich soil, and tilling them as well. She learned important lessons from the Mortal Forms about preserving a life, and appreciating the world around them.
Divine Domains
Jade has power over the Fields, and the act of Farming, something shared with her younger sister, Obsidian. Additionally, she has power over the act of Alchemy, the equivalent exchange and blending of properties found in nature.
Holy Books & Codes
The Wisdom of Jade is less of a theological roadmap and more of a Farmer's Almanac, full of tips, tricks, and tools of the trade, told in the form of poems, metaphors, and parables.
Similarly, the Mixtures of Jade is a similar book, although more designed for dramatizing Alchemical Equations rather than farm work.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Along with Jade Green Dragon Scales, Icons of Jade are typically found over arches leading to farmland, on labels around produce, or melted into alchemical bottles. It is a symbol of three wheat stalks bending, appearing almost like dragon claws.
Tenets of Faith
The Tenents of Jade are rather simplistic and go to serve the greater narrative of appreciating life. The Generosity of Jade is fulfilled by giving back to the land, making sure that it's well cared for, and especially being forthcoming with the yields of your crops.
Her main three Tenents are as follows:
- One must develop their own Growth, just as one tills their fields.
- One must create that which is new, create variety in their life, and refuse to be stagnant.
- One must appreciate life and all that it holds, eschewing the concepts of needless death.
Holidays
The Spring Solstice, 30th of Melting Winter/1st of Growing Spring, is the Holy Day of Jade, as farmers prepare to work the fields in the coming year, and Alchemists get ready for a new year of foraging.
