Pajawo
A small, slightly dilapidated town on the coast near Helen. Previously, it was the Capital of Atalanta, until the formation of Helen and then subsequent submergence of the city. Now, it exists as a key city of Religion and Faith for The Ascendants, but as it is not a religion that clings closely to official gathering or structure, it does not have as much of a pull as those of its type elsewhere. Nonetheless, it's a quaint and fulfilling city, with plenty of fishing to be had as well.
Demographics
Most of Pajawo's citizens are of elven descent, either Half-Elves left to tend for the homesteads or full-bloods who didn't want to leave to seek greener pastures, and also Tritons who came up from the nearby coast.
Government
Like all cities in Atalanta, no matter how small, Pajawo is governed by a Senator that reports the town's complaints. For Pajawo, that responsibility lies in Senator Illios Pajawo, a descendant of the first settler of the city, who is also the appointed religious leader of The Ascendants.
Defences
Pajawo has a simple wall but doesn't have much in the way of defense, as it is no longer a key city within Atalanta. There are a handful of paladins within the city as well, but they have rarely been needed since The Border Wars.
Industry & Trade
Pajawo's greatest asset is their Fishing Industry, which provides the most revenue for the town and their other businesses on a yearly basis.
Infrastructure
Pajawo mostly uses a watermill along with certain magical energies, and there is a strong fishing trade, allowing for a decent port given the towns small size.
Guilds and Factions
Despite the town's size, they do have a Mercenary Guild within their reach. The Guild Phoenix Ear makes their home in Pajawo, and it's the 17th Highest Guild in Edda.
History
Originally a strong town, built on faith and opportunity, the creation of Helen in 628 AC. Even then, there wasn't too much competition between the cities, until the last decade when underwater habilitation technology reinvented the city into a unique underwater haven, rather than a simple floating metropolis.
Architecture
Most of Pajawo's buildings are original pieces of architecture preserved throughout the years, so there's plenty of old wood and stone structures, although they've become quite worn down compared to the newer infrastructure.
Geography
Pajawo is settled right against the coastline that separates the mainland from the waters of Helen. technically, it's at the far end of The Swamp of Hags, but the odd magic throughout the swamp ends long before the town starts.
