Sun Elves

Under the warmth of the sun and the rustling leaves of thin canopies, the Sun Elves of eld worked the fields that would become the foundation of the nation.
As Elves came from the various trees and bound plant material when Mortal Forms became flesh, there are many variations of Elves just as there are many types of trees in the world. Sun Elves are one such variation, a species of Elf that adapted and grew to be primarily agriculturalists and gatherers, leading to some of the building blocks that began civilization and culture, especially in what would become the nation of Hippolyta where they are most common.

Primary Differences

Biological

Sun Elves, compared to the baseline comminalities among all Elven species, are a bit more sexually dimorphous when it comes to muscular structure, with female Sun Elves gaining tighter but less visible muscle definiton than male Sun Elves, on average. Physically, their ear lengths tend to land in a middle ground of potential sizes, roughly 4 to 6 inches average.   Due to their common environment, they also tend to have darker skin tones, and are more susceptible to gaining tans or freckles from sunlight, but neither trait is purely exclusive to them. Another physical difference is that as Sun Elves were mostly farmers before Hippolytan society became more integrated and varied. They gained a greater mental plasticity as a result of greater time spent learning in one place, and often have flatter teeth more befitting herbivores as they ate the fruits...well, vegetables, of their labor. While the breeding of livestock became common to them as well, it was still only a fraction of their common diet.   This agricultural difference also led to the common senses among Elves growing in different ways as well. Their keen sight evolved in a way to gaze over the wide plains with greater ease, as they are able to see fine details in objects up to 100 feet away, and can still make out enough details in objects up to 500 feet away. Their extrasensory tune with the nature around them, as well, is more aptly tuned towards the weather and seasonal shifts, giving them a preturnatural aid in their planning of farms and storage.

Cultural/Social

While modern cultures are far more dictated by location and environment than species, Sun Elves historically had a key role to play at the dawn of Hippolytan society. With their early adoption and focus on agriculture and settlement building, when Elves began to unify the Sun Elves helped others integrate into their settlements and the specifics of tending the land. While Hippolytan culture quickly began to grow as a unified front, it was in the soil of the Sun Elves that it was planted.   In Afallon to the north, as well, some say the early strength and endurance of The Cabal of the Night Sky as a faith is because of the Elven membership and their long lives preserving and remembering the old tales to pass down the generations. While this population isn't purely Sun Elven, they did make up a large portion of that early proselytizing portion of the faith.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Sun Elves in particular are most populous in Hippolyta, where they make up the 2nd highest demographic among Elves, and in Afallon where the wide, open deserts gave them a leg up with their evolutionary differences. There are many with the Kaguyan Federation and Atalanta as well, but not to as stark a degree.
