Kecksis

Kecksis is the capital of the Kingdom of Keck, a powerful civilization where the mystic arts are central to their philosophy. They used to a be land united under both the arcane and divine, but a great catastrophe destroyed the quarter of the city devoted to the deities. Hence, the city has eschewed all organized religion and the former Brass quarter is now the Rust quarter: a wretched hive of scum and villainy.   The four quarters are divided by thick walls that can be shut off from each other at any moment in the case of an invasion. This has only been used once in history, to seal the Rust quarter off. These quarters each represent a general purpose for the city. Though one might find denizens of one operating in another, these divisions are generalizations of the population in each.
  • The Gilded Quarter

This serves as residential quarters for the city's wealthy and powerful. Each block of this section of the city is a mansion, some much larger than others. Anyone entering must have appropriate documentation. This helps to cut down on potential thefts. This quarter also contains the Airship Dock.
  • The Quicksilver Quarter

  • This quarter serves as the home for all the arcane business and institutions in the city. You will find any sort of magical shop you might need here, as well as a number of wizards towers and the University. This quarter also boasts the most bookshops of any city in the world.
  • The Bronze Quarter

  • This quarter is home to all sorts of smithies and armories. This is also the place to buy any mundane goods, horses, tools, furniture, it's all crafted/sold here. This also houses all the less affluent residents.
  • The Rust Quarter

  • The Rust quarter is but a shell of what it once was. Formerly the Brass quarter, it still shows off a few impressive looking temples, but these are all but in ruins. Much of the beauty of the place has been replaced by squalor and filth. This provides a natural, unsupervised environment for the criminal elements of the city to gather. There is some sort of shadow government running the place now, making deals with the outside, and regulating the criminal activities for it's profit. This is ruled through fear and respect, by a mysterious entity called The Shade.

Demographics

Mostly Elves and Dragonborn, the city is born out of a union between these two races.

Government

Ruled by a council of elected officials, three from each of the three quarters of the city and three from the citadel's personnel to make up for the lack of representation form the Rust Quarter. This council also elects a Grand Minister to preside over the council and break ties. The position is designed to be one of impartiality, though few have been as such.

Defences

Each quarter and the outside of the city is surrounded by a white marble wall, 5 stories tall and nearly perfect. It was wrought my magic 2000 years ago and has protected the city well ever since. The outer wall is several feet thick and the inner wall is considerably thinner, but doesn't have battlements to walk upon. In the center of the city the four walls open up to form an inner square around the Citadel, seat of the council's power.

Industry & Trade

Magical artifacts are a common trade here, and can be found in almost any shop in the Quicksilver quarter.

Architecture

The buildings are all cleanly crafted and designed for efficiency or splendor, depending on what part of the city you're in. The typical house tends toward a sharply angled roof, while mansions could be any shape or size, depending on the whim of whichever family's ancestors who built it. In the Quicksilver, the construction tends to be more haphazard, but many buildings explode every year there, so they don't mind cutting a few corners.

    The Divestiture
    Disaster / Destruction

The city is rent from its worship as the council revokes religious rights in light of a great schism arising from the brass quarter.
