Seikigahara Hills

Beautiful at first but boring after a day, I honestly don't know how most halflings spend their entire lives in these hills, all of them bloody near identical. I don't know, but I sure don't care either, because even if they are repetitive they are an excellent place for vacation, daydreaming as the hills pass by as you stare out the back of the wagon. Maybe it's rainy, maybe it's sunny, maybe it's overcast, it doesn't matter because if I could give this region one word I would give it calming. Farms, villages, valleys, all blend together beautifully.
-An excerpt from a report on the mainland written by an islander

Geography

The Seikigahara Hills are rolling hills upon which are scattered halfling villages and farms. The broad region spans the length between the Hideyoshi Mountains and Ashikaga Forest, running from a point slightly below the Northernmost point of the forest all the way down to nearly 150 kms below the Southernmost point of the forest, which extends more Westward, slightly separating from the Hideyoshi Mountains. Kamakura, the capital of the region, finds itself 340 kms directly East of Edo in the Rainy Valley, the centre of a small part of the region which has an increased likelihood of rain thanks to the fact that it was the birthplace of Jiago, his birth creating the valley in which the the city rests.

Fauna & Flora

Flora Most of the plant life in the Seikigahara Hills is grass, which carpets the large majority of the region. There are a few trees such as birch, beech, and cottonwood which can be found in small patches, but not consistently throughout the region. Additionally, sparse patches of edible root plants can be found in the wild, alongside berry bushes. Farming the largest industry in the hills, and as such there are many crop fields containing corn, wheat, lettuce, tomatoes, and most other planted crops that you can name off the top of your head. Much the same applies with orchards with bruit trees.   Fauna Fauna includes prairie dogs, foxes, wolves, and other such furry mammals. Mice and rats are in large supply beneath the ground alongside snakes and many varieties of bugs. For bird life, hawks and eagles dominate the skies, leaving little room for other birds, save crows who are the biggest bane of farmers as they like to eat crops.
