The Republic of the Halflings of the Seikigahara Hills

Man, halflings really suck at naming things.
-A wise man

Demography and Population

Species: 96% halfling, 4% other   Wealth: 9% unemployed/homeless, 60% labour class, 15% middle class, 16% upper class   Age (in halflings): 0-180: 25%, 181-315: 35%, 316-450: 25%, 451+: 15%   Over the territory there are approximately 700,000 people who have permanente residence, nearly half of whom are in Kamakura. The region surrounding Kamakura has the highest density of villages and the density slowly thins moving out from there in any direction. The portion of land across the Seikigahara River is also more densely populated than the rest of the region, as it is an area that only became halfling territory near the end of the Age of Turmoil, and thus halflings have made a point to make it theirs.

Territories

The Territory belonging to the halflings consists of the entirety of the Seikigahara Hills, East of Misuto lake and West of the Hideyoshi Mountains. They additionally control a piece of flatland North-West of the Seikigahara Hills just over the Seikigahara River. This territory is technically that of the Edo empire, though it is recognized as that of the Halflings. There is no formal border, at least not outside of maps, but what is halfling territory and what is not is quite clear due to the many seemingly randomly placed villages which can be found both above ground and within hills.

Military

The military forces of the Seikigahara Halflings primarily consist of hired samurai, not of soldiers of the halflings, as all of the semi-autonomous states within the control of the Edo Empire are nearly completely demilitarized, save for guard forces for major cities. On average, towns have one samurai for every 80 citizens and cities have a guard for every 45 citizens, though there is only one real city due to the Halfling tendency to prefer smaller scale settlements.

Religion

Though there is no official state religion, most halflings tend towards being lawful and thus then towards worshipping Lenmare. Approximately 85% of the Halflings of Seikigahara hills (and 70% of the halflings overall, most of those outside of Seikigahara are chaotic) worship Lenmare. Popular Lawful religions within halflings are Tetsuo, Herubake, and, for the evil, Bo. No Religions are taboo, but certain CE ones, such as Jiago, Woshikkano, and Metsuo are looked down upon heavily.

Infrastructure

Even though the Seikigahara halflings are technically an organization, there is little infrastructure in place across the region, save for well made and relatively safe roads which connect all the villages, farms, etc. and lead towards Edo (City). The capital, Kamakura, has much more to offer in terms of infrastructure, however that is to be expected and it's resources do not reflect those of the rest of the region.

Major Exports
The main export is foodstuffs, whether it be livestock, (dead or not), crops, (harvested, dried, prepared, or perhaps even alive), or animal products (milk, cheese, eggs, etc.) the halflings export large amounts of all of it, and are crucial to the joint survival of the island, as their food reaches the mouths of most of the island. Not much else is exported.
Major Imports
The largest import of the halflings in wood from the forests, as the hilly region which they inhabit does not have enough trees to support their building desires. After that we have fish being imported on a semi-regular basis alongside various trade goods. Aside from fish, no food or livestock is imported as the land is extremely fertile and the halflings grow their own crops and raise their own livestock.
