Lesu

the Star Walker

(a.k.a. the Voyager, Lady Luck, the Lantern Radiant)

Lesu, known as the Voyager, the Lady Luck, and the Lantern Radiant, is the divine embodiment of starlight. Perhaps the most prominent and most powerful of all the Ministry Divine, she reigns over the domains of Luck, Light, Travel, and Trickery, fostering a belief system that cherishes adaptability and embraces life's unpredictability. Lesu's tenets guide her followers to seize opportunities and defy the fate they are dealt.   The apotheosis of Lesu changed intersteller travel forever. While the galaxy had always had gods dedicated to machines, even back to confirmed antiquity, they’d always remained relatively minor. Yet exactly 3 years after the end of the Gap, a newly empowered Lesu revealed herself: a living deity composed of a divine network integrating three of the consort gods: Gond, the Gearsmith. Primus, the One and Prime. And Celestian, the Star Wanderer. This new collective consciousness vaulted to prominence by providing mortals with access to a heretofore unknown hyperspace dimension called the Drift, reachable only via technology and granting easy travel to distant stars.   Within Lesu's faith, no trick is deemed too trivial or cunning. Advantage is the primary objective, and her adherents will exploit every avenue for their benefit. They hold the unique ability to challenge the predetermined paths of fate, seeking to alter dark prophecies and evade seemingly inescapable tragedies. The wanderlust runs deep among Lesu's faithful, driving them to explore the expansive realms of Edrazion. They find solace beneath the open skies, where the stars serve as their celestial companions.   Lesu's divine influence extends to the art of divination, where the truth is delivered with a gentle touch. Her followers read the future without sowing despair, striving to unveil hope even in the grimmest of foretellings. Quick decision-making is a virtue, recognizing that opportunities are fleeting. Lesu's adherents are torchbearers of enlightenment, unearthing forgotten secrets of the past and revealing hidden wisdom yet to be discovered.   While humor and playful mischief are celebrated, Lesu's faithful employ laughter to humble the proud. They uphold the values of friendship and open-heartedness, extending their hospitality to those far from home. Temples dedicated to Lesu often take the form of observatories, adorned with texts, charts, and instruments to study the night sky.   Lesu frequently communicates with her favored disciples through playful means, including fireflies, whimsical games of chance, and celestial movements. Her blessings manifest as extraordinary strokes of luck, while her disfavor results in overwhelming misfortune. Rituals include divining decisions with gem dust and the Deck of Heavenly Bodies, seeking lost objects under starlight, blessing settlements with stardust, and employing tricks to teach gratitude.

Alluvion

This amalgam city is the ever-expanding epicenter of intelligent activity in the Drift and the spiritual center of the worship of Lesu. The city has a roughly ovoid shape and rests atop a relatively flat asteroid, beneath which is an expanse of impossible darkness. An accretion disk composed of chunks of other planes claimed by the Drift spirals slowly into the city, gradually adding to its mass. Over time, these accretions have formed distinct rings—the innermost are reserved for the elite, while new arrivals must settle for territory at the newly added edge of the city. A massive gravity well beneath Alluvion draws in this stream of planar detritus; Lesu's faithful believe the deity has harnessed a black hole with a combination of technology and magic, which would explain the unfathomable blackness beneath the city.   Whether or not this is true, the gravity in the city itself is comparable to that of Edras Station and other constructed environments, and a carefully filtered atmosphere supports most oxygen-breathing life. Sometimes wryly called “the city at the center of the Drift,” Alluvion in fact travels throughout the plane. Whenever Lesu wills it, or at least according to no predictable timetable, obelisk-like beacons throughout the city glow faintly green and repeat a seven-tone melody for several minutes. The surrounding purple-pink hyperspace then seems to fold in on itself, and the city is instantly transported to a different part of the Drift—often near a newly plucked portion of a plane. Those who have experienced such relocation while in Alluvion compare it to entering or exiting the Drift, which has led to speculation that Lesu held back a key component of Drift-engine technology when it sent out the Signal, one that might allow even faster travel among the stars if it were discovered.
