Destrian Crewe

"Crewe was at the right place and the right time and made himself a hero and the leader of the Dane for a time. In no other time would a soldier from nothing have risen so far. But having met Crewe and given him control of my kingdom it wouldn't have mattered the time or the place."
Lord Morningfall, 1227 King of Jote

Early Days

Born to a shipping merchant in Halnedine, Destrian Crewe, had the opportunity to travel in the northern parts of Jote growing up. He received an education with the nobles of the area where he was a bit of an outsider and viewed as lesser by the rest of the students. As he grew up he tired of the way the nobility treated him and joined the Jote military. A few short years later he found himself in Oakwar as the Gosan Insurrection began.

The Insurrection

When the Insurrection began the nobility was unprepared. Crewe and his legion of soldiers were stationed in the capital and managed to outmaneuver the insurgents and their superior arcane weaponry to make a route of retreat for the King, his family, and advisors. During the days of the Insurrection Crewe and his legion were decorated time and again for their valor. He gained a bit of a mythical reputation among the insurgents, some believed he was nothing but a myth while others said he was a sort of god. He used both to his advantage.

The Conclave

He was sent south to support the Kingdoms of Phev and Tern and the battle went poorly and the kingdoms were routed. Crewe was thought to be lost on the battlefield. He emerged from the mountains a month later at the gates of Tern recovered from wounds received in the battle. He set out from that point and began to build the Conclave. He knew that with two capitals lost and the kingdoms separated no one kingdom could win on its own.  To the surprise of all, he unified the kingdoms under one banner and under his command. In only a year he was able to finally put down the Insurrection in the Battle of Castesford.

Arbiter

Crewe returned the control that he was given back to the Kingdoms. He spent the rest of his days ensuring the Ironwood Conclave was there to protect Dane and its people. Negotiating trade agreements and support between the kingdoms and improving relations, healing old wounds.

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel this week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. I've scheduled to go live at 8am and 8pm Eastern Time every weekday. If you join and comment, I can go over your article right then and there! If you'd like to coordinate a specific date, let me know. If you aren't able to make it (or don't want to be present live), you can also always watch streams after the fact on my YouTube channel   BUT, if the answer is NO because you'd rather I not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3
