Ekra
"Well sure it's non-traditional. Most people don't live underground and have to feed an entire kingdom. Those dwarves know how to cook it. I don't know what that spice is but I'll go out of my way every time."When peoples of Tern were forced underground by the expanding Frost Wood they lost their pasture lands and most of their livestock. Grazing animals didn't adapt well to the conditions and they were forced to lean on the dwarven miners for answers. Many of the old miners when deep in a cave or would stumble across an Ekra and it would be a welcome departure from dried food and rations. Soon the same herdsmen and farmers that had been successful with cows, sheep, and goats turned to Ekra farming. The species was easily domesticated and ate nearly anything including many of the things in the underground that wasn't safe for the average person. They were resilient and fairly content creatures and didn't seem to need light. As the years went by the farmers got better and the Kingdom of Tern was able to lean less on other countries for meats. The Tern herdsmen have bred the Ekra to many different types or heritages, much like cattle, with some better for their leathery hide and some better for meat.Taryn Wanderfoot
