Blightwalker
The Darkness is one within the hearts of men. These monstrosities intend to bring that innate darkness to the surface.
"The Blightwalkers of Emer are a plague upon the once hallowed lands of this beautiful vista." ~ Excerpts of the All-Seeing
"It is said by some historians that they feed off of the souls of the long dead. Though that does appear to be an exaggeration and not complete fact. Through our estimations, it would appear more likely that they feed on magical energies."~ Excerpts of the All Seeing
Basic Information
Anatomy
Blightwalkers are charred distorted humanoids with a large acrid black pustule on their back. Their spines are mangled and they walk at a slower pace than their parent species. Though they appear distorted they possess a powerful grip from Emer's tainted magic.
Genetics and Reproduction
Blightwalkers luckily cannot produce but if they kill a humanoid they will cause them to manifest into a blightwalker. There have been rumors of blightwalkers able to deliver pustules via air but none have been documented.
Growth Rate & Stages
Blightwalkers can not survive outside of Emer for long without latent magic. They will chase down magical energies and live off the magic if they can. If they are incapable of feeding off of magical energies they will dissolve within a fortnight. Spellcasters of some renown have been transformed by these creatures and are rumored to be there. Some would say that they lead the pack.
Ecology and Habitats
Blightwalkers lie dormant in damp soil and remain motionless. They feed off of the land's vile magics and await intruders.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Blightwalkers possess a need for magic inherent in their systems. They appear to hunt spellcasters with an immense bloodlust for their flesh. Such humanoids when transformed become the most powerful blightwalkers amongst them.
Biological Cycle
Blightwalkers are effectively immortal as long as magic isn't removed from their surroundings. They possess an intense resistance to arcane magic but a weakness to light that is exploitable to the cunning adventurer.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The magic of Emer has granted these creatures a predatory instinct for humanoid blood. Those with cuts and scars will attract these creatures like flies to a dung pile. In addition outside of Emer they will chase down magical objects and such, like hounds to a squirrel. Blightwalkers remain dormant at night typically and prefer dark places.
